St Mary’s school currently offers Japanese for students in Years T-6.

Classes are 60 minutes in duration for students in Years T-6.

Lessons are based on the Australian Curriculum: Languages with a focus on Japanese. This approach emphasises not only language skills but also cultural understanding and intercultural competence. Students develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills while exploring Japanese traditions, history, contemporary society and cultural practices, gaining a deeper appreciation of the Japanese-speaking world.

In lessons, students are encouraged to use their language skills in real-life scenarios, bringing their learning to life. This comprehensive approach supports them to become confident, culturally aware and globally minded individuals, ready to engage with the world around them.
