Principal's News

Week 8, Term 3, 2021

Dear Families,

St Mary’s Feast Day: This week we celebrate the Birthday of our school patron, Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Mary was a wonderful example to us all with her unconditional “Yes” to God’s calling. We can aspire to Mary’s personal traits of patience, gentleness and humility as we go about our own everyday encounters.

Thank You: I want to sincerely thank the P&F for hosting such a successful Father’s Day gift stall last Thursday. It was such a fabulous sight to see the children able to purchase ‘that’ special gift for the significant men in their lives. Thank you to all our Dads who were able to attend our Father’s Day Liturgy dedicated to dads last Friday. It certainly was lovely to see so many of our parents able to come together again as a community.

School Concert: Our School Concert is creeping up so quickly… I can’t believe it is only two weeks away! Thank you to the team working behind the scenes to ensure our whole school performance on Friday, 24 September is another memorable event. A reminder and to avoid upset at our dress rehearsals this week, that if you have not finalised your child’s dance costume, to please do so as soon as possible.

Trivia Night: Thank you to all those who supported the Year 5/6 fundraising Trivia Night. The evening was a fun night with over $1500.00 raised towards the students Camp experience next Term. Many thanks to Jo Martin for her coordination of this event.

Athletics Carnival: We are hopeful that our junior Athletics Carnival will go ahead next Wednesday, 15th September. If you wish to help at the Athletics Carnival, we may require support for some events please let the school office know.

Transition 2022 Information Sessions: On Wednesday, 15 September we will host an Open Morning for prospective families to come and see everything on offer at St Mary’s. Sessions will be held at 10.30 am and repeated at 5 pm.Just a gentle reminder that if you have a child ready for Transition next year, please collect an Transition enrolment pack and if you know anyone who is looking for a school, please send them our way as we believe we can provide an amazing education for our students.

Welcome to Alexa and Jackson and family who joined our school community this week.

Have a wonderful week ahead,
In faith and love, Rosie

Mr Lyons shared the First Nations’ Australian perspective of Custodianship of Country and connected this well to Stewardship and ‘Care for our Common Home’ in our Catholic Social Teaching.
MJR (Making Jesus Real)
Our focus in MJR this term has been one the many habits we’re aiming to build in our Class Community, from being generous, to inner happiness and peace, cultivating healthy friendships, honesty and trust and learning skills and strategies to build our emotional intelligence – such as how to be a ‘diffuser’ not an ‘escalator’; modelled over his short life by Jesus himself. Once again MJR has been a subject that we’re able to weave into our 4 St Mary’s R’s (Resilience, Respect, Responsibility and Ready-to-Learn) and also connects with our foray into ‘Moral Life’ and being a good citizen in a healthy democracy.

Parent Feedback Surveys

83-839822_we-really-do-value-your-feedback-we-value
As we strive to ensure that St Mary’s provides excellent teaching and learning alongside a supportive environment for our students, we want to learn more about your experiences as a parent and carer of a student at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School.

We invite you to participate in our 2021 Parent Satisfaction Survey. Your feedback will be very helpful in improving student engagement, learning conditions, and the overall school environment. Your responses are completely anonymous, and your name or personally identifiable information will not be collected.
You can complete the survey by clicking on the "School Surveys" tab in SchoolStream.

We appreciate your survey responses by 17th September.

This month marks the beginning of the Season of Creation, the annual Christian celebration of renewing our commitment to nurture and look after our common home. The season started on 1st September and will end on 4th October, the feast of St Francis, the patron saint of ecology. This year’s theme is, A Home for All. Renewing the Oikos of God. Oikos is the Greek word for “home.”
